Job title: Electronics Technician – SMT and Electrical/Optical Bench Work

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled Electronics Technician with a specialized focus on soldering small components, particularly in Surface Mount Technology (SMT). The ideal candidate will have a robust background in electrical bench work, possess proficiency in examining and comprehending electrical schematics, and bring a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the field. This position involves working with electrical optical broadcast systems and professional and industrial cameras, along with occasional travel for on-site installations and maintenance. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

  1. Soldering and Assembly: Demonstrate expertise in soldering small components, with a strong emphasis on Surface Mount Technology (SMT).
  2. Electrical Bench Work: Conduct electrical bench work, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic systems and components.
  3. Schematic Understanding: Examine and comprehend electrical schematics to facilitate effective troubleshooting and repair.
  4. Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs of equipment and materials as required.
  5. Travel: Willingness to travel for on-site installations, maintenance, or client support. May need to travel to domestic or international locations for up to 2 weeks for demos/installs/training purposes.
  6. Optical Broadcast Systems: Utilize experience with electrical optical broadcast systems, demonstrating a deep understanding of their components and functionalities.
  7. Camera Expertise: Showcase familiarity with professional and industrial cameras, including setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  8. Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including troubleshooting steps, repairs, and equipment specifications.
  9. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure seamless integration of electronic components.
  10. Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance checks on assembled components to ensure they meet industry standards and specifications.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in electrical bench work and soldering, with a focus on SMT.
  2. Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics.
  3. Experience with electrical optical broadcast systems and professional/industrial cameras.
  4. Knowledge of use with standard test equipment, i.e. vectorscope, waveform monitor and oscilloscope.
  5. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as required.
  6. Familiarity with industry standards and protocols (e.g., SMPTE, HDMI, SDI, etc.)
  7. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills is preferred.
  9. English speaking is required, and a second language is preferred.

Note: A 2-week training session is mandatory at our Islandia office.

Education

Associate degree or equivalent in Electronics or a related field.
